The Benefits of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)

Compressed Natural Gas
A natural gas that is primarily used in the transport sector which is produced by compressing the natural gas is called Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). It is a natural gas that is low in density which makes it possible to be compressed to 200-250 kg pressure which enhances the capacity for storage of a CNG vehicle. Natural gas has two main components: Methane and Ethane. This gas contains heavy hydrocarbons but are usually removed during processing. The process is completed, lean gas or residual gas will be brought back to the pipeline. After then, this gas will be compressed as being distributed as compressed natural gas (CNG). This compressed natural gas has more benefits when compared to other kinds of fuel. And buying CNG vehicles or converting your current one can have numerous benefits as well.

One of the benefit of CNG is its effect to the environment. This gas is actually called as green fuel. It does not contain any harmful elements such as sulfur and lead therefore, none these is released as by-product in the environment. With the use of CNG, emissions which can be harmful in the environment is reduced. By nature, this gas is non-corrosive which increases spark plug durability. Compressed Natural Gas is benzene and lead free while keeping the environment free from fatal compounds. At present, power plants utilize large amount of this natural gas as a replacement to heavy fuel oil. As a result, the amount of emissions is reduced and there is a reduced carbon dioxide as well as particulates. Another benefit of a Compressed Natural Gas when used as a fuel is that it enhances the life of a lubricating oil. Since it does not have any harmful substances, it helps prevent contamination and the dilution of crankcase oil. This gas is a gaseous fuel which can easily and evenly mix with the air.

Eco-Friendly
Compressed Natural Gas has a high ignition temperature which is about 540 degree Celsius. Therefore, even on a hot surface the chances for the fuel to be auto ignited which can cause loss of property and life is very less, making it the safest choice. This fuel has a very narrow inflammability range which is only 5%-15%. This means that, CNG only becomes flammable when the air concentration lies between 5%-15%. Therefore, combustion will not happen below or beyond the given range which in turn prevents accidents.

The cost is another great thing about Compressed Natural Gas. Vehicles which uses CNG has lower operational expenditure than those which utilizes fuels like diesel and petrol. The characteristics of a good fuel can definitely be found in CNG. Therefore, it has become advisable to purchase vehicles which uses a Compressed Natural Gas as fuel or to convert the current one to this. One thing is for sure, the quality of the environment will be greatly improved. In addition to this, when the environment is improved, the quality of life of the people is also improved, thus making this environment a better place to live in.
